A resume is a formal document that a job applicant creates to present their qualifications for a position. A resume is usually accompanied by a customized cover letter in which the applicant expresses an interest in a specific job or company and draws attention to his strengths.

As, a fresher your resume is something which has to stand out of the crowd. To do so, your resume should focus primarily on your assets as a person. It should emphasis on your skills (both hard and soft skills).

WHAT ARE THE POINTS TO NOTE WHILE WRITING A RESUME AS A FRESHER?

You just passed from higher secondary or just completed your graduation or any higher qualification. Also, you do not have any relevant experience in any field. Remember, your Resume or CV will be your first impression to the employer, and would also be a part of the decision whether you are hired or not.

Let us know which points or things you need to keep in mind while making your Resume or CV:

  • Your resume should have your picture. It is noticed 80% times that a resume with the job seeker’s picture is more attractive. However, you need to keep in mind that the picture should be in formal attire, and if possible colorful.
  • Write a concise personal statement. The first five lines in your resume should state why you are motivated for the job post you have applied for. It should also show how much you are eager to learn as a fresher and devoted for the welfare of the company.
  • State your contact information. Your resume should have your mobile phone number, address and email Id. This would be very important while the recruiter or the employer, would like to contact you, while selecting your resume.
  • Reread the job advertisement. Remember, that you are a fresher. Therefore, you need to point out what specific skill set the recruiter or the employer is looking for. Your task would be to point and list those skills in your resume as your strength.
  • Provide clear educational information. Since, you are a fresher. The recruiter or the employer would be very much inclined towards your educational background as well. Try to mention your educational streams and institutes you have passed from. Also, mention any kind of certifications you have.
  • Provide work experience. I know, you are a fresher, and you do not have as much of an experience. But, incase you have worked as a freelancer or have done any internship, including that in your resume might be a good idea.
  • Mention hobbies and interests. You should definitely mention your hobbies and interests in your resume in a separate section. Let it be as irrelevant to the job post you have applied for. This would express what kind of a person you are. Remember the proverb, ‘All work and no play makes jack a dull boy.’ Nobody wants a dull employee.
  • Declare your willingness to learn new skills. This is a very important point in the resume of a fresher. Any recruiter or employer would only and only employ a fresher, expecting that the person would learn all the needed skills once he or she starts working with the company.
